It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Contest - Can't Turn Back the Years

UPDATE: there is a new end date, in stead of using a fixed date, this contest will be over, when I finish the drawing. I will not post any WIP, so it could be this month, next month, end of this year, next year

Almost end of the year, time for a new contest. A lot of entries were posted for my last one, and I am at this moment busy at drawing the prices for the 2 winners. So it's a good time for something different and new...

I have been working for about 3 weeks on my new drawing now. Nothing on paper yet, but I have been creating my reference in Photoshop. I call it 'Beauty and the Beast' for now, but that is just a working title.

There is a big difference with my other work. There I just use a photo created by fellow artists on dA. For this one, I had an image in my head that would not be easy to find in a single reference. Therefore I worked for already about 10 hours on creating my own, using multiple sources.
How did I came up with this image in my head? I was influenced by a particular song from Phil Collins.

After listening to it, I decided to make a drawing about it, and I started thinking about the lyrics. For me, it was about an 'impossible love', and therefore I made the connection to this fairy tale, about a beast and a girl. Another image that I can remember from my childhood, was this television show about 'Beauty and the Beast', where the monster had a clear resemblance with a lion.

It didn't take long to envision the rest of the drawing, and I came up with an idea of showing a Lion's head in the top left looking down. In the lower right, a girl looking up. Between them, a dream, a vision, where they were hugging, giving themselves to each other.
Ok, a bloody nightmare to Photoshop and manipulate a lion and a woman in a realistic pose

but I am actually very pleased with the results.
