So, how about we do a contest. A graphite contest with a twist..... I have liked myths, & horror stories for a long time.
As with all myths, most of them are based upon folklore tales, conditions like diseases, and the poor knowledge of science in medieval times.
So much great stories have arisen from these conditions, and one of them are the tales of the undeath, the Vampires....
I propose to do a contest using this as theme, but with a few rules:
* Your drawing must be done in graphite, no other medium is allowed....
* It must contain either objects, persons, animals that are in any way connected to the vampire myths....
* Drawing a scene from a movie is allowed....
* Blood that is included in your vision, must be done using red colors, again only using pencils, some other elements can be red also....
* Size, a minimum of A4....
* Your drawing must be somewhat realistic, no manga style drawings.....
* Provide me/us with some shiny WIP shots.... (just to be sure)
I expect to see an incredible moody scene with dark graphite tones & red highlights....
"I heard dogs howling. And when the dream came, it seemed the whole room was filled with mist. It was so thick, I could just see the lamp by the bed, a tiny spark in the fog. And then I saw two red eyes glaring at me. And a white livid face came down out of the mist. It came closer and closer. I felt its breath on my face and then its lips."

"A vampire lives in a constant state of desire and disgust. His nature often revolts him, but he doesn't have the will to deny his indulgences. There's the killing, but there's also the pleasure, the sensuality, the lust. The sheer ecstasy of it all."
End Date
End date of this competition is 30 September 2012, it starts the moment you read this journal.
When the end date has passed, I will ask a number of people to vote on the competing drawings.
You just send a link of your submission to me, and I will collect all the drawings in a favorite map.
I will also compete in this competition, but will not compete for any of the prizes (duh)...
Happy drawing and sharpen your teeth...
"But first, on earth as Vampire sent,
Thy corpse shall from its tomb be rent:
Then ghastly haunt thy native place,
And suck the blood of all thy race;
There from thy daughter, sister, wife,
At midnight drain the stream of life;
Yet loathe the banquet which perforce
Must feed thy livid living corpse.
Thy victims are they yet expire
Shall know the demon for their sire,
As cursing thee, thou cursing them,
Thy flowers withered on the stem."

Sabbatical period
Hey fellow DeviantART members,
It's been a while.... about 7 months ago, I decided to stop drawing.... my own professional and personal life took so much of my time & energy, it was difficult to keep combining these 3. One month became two, two became three, and now, after this whole time, the graphite powder, & pencils are calling my name again :-)
I am planning to restart again, although it might take some time before I actually start, but I am busy with 2 new drawings. One will be a portrait, of a photo I took this year in Kroatie. Looking very forward to start on it, as it is an own reference, and the subject has just an impr
Feature
Hello people, it's been ages since I updated or wrote a new journal.
Life has been busy and good. I have been working silently and patiently on my new drawing which is coming along nicely. I have not posted that much of WIP shots as I used too. Biggest reason for that is that dA looks a bit deserted. Not many hits or comments do emerge from these WIP, so it looks like people are not that interested anymore in seeing them.
As it has been a while, I am going to do a feature, so send me in comment a thumbnail of your best work, and I might feature them in a next journal. Please as always, only graphite works, level has no meaning.... so d
New Contest: Project Soldier
Hey everybody, it has been some time.... and time for a new contest.
My last contest 'the blood is the life' was a good one, and I enjoyed it very much.
This time, it will be easier..... no drawing, no painting, just thinking....
Some may have noticed that I have been busy with a new drawing for some months... I always call it Project Soldier.
At this stage, I still do not have a good name for it, and I challenge everyone, to come up with a good name.
So what is this drawing about? I won't say.... :-) I can tell you that it's a tribute to the great wars.... from 1914-1918, and 1940-1945.
I also will tell you that this is a drawing abou
My journey into finding my Style....
Hey everybody, I have been very quiet the last months, time to change this, and time to write a journal on something which is pretty important if you want to pursue art.
People talk a lot about 'what is my style', and how to find your 'style'. I started less then 3 years ago on my drawing journey, and the past 2 years I did not think a lot about this subject. This changed the last year.... I actually really know now, what my style is, what I want to do with it, and what my next steps are the following years, in order to pursue this.
Let me start at the beginning, and take us back to November 2011.
Back then, I drew at regularly interval.
