Life is too short.... You have to live like every day could be your last. With this in mind, I decided to plan a short trip to Switzerland, and visit the museum and bar of an artist that I adore since I was 10 years old.
The next day, I went to visit the museum itself. I have all his art books in my possession, but seeing the real thing, just blew me away. The detail of his airbrushed painting, are to be frankly, unbelievable. Entering the room with his 'Spell' paintings, was even unreal. We stayed there for about half an hour, just staring at all the images of these huge paintings.
We stayed for a few hours at the museum. It's much bigger then you would expect, and it's a must for every fan to see. We even enjoyed some photo shoots of ghotic chicks
In the end, we took about 300 photo's, lots of video, and had 2 days of fun. I am not even starting to describe what it has done, for my own definition of art. What I want to pursue, and what it has done in ways of finding my own style, and plans for the next years....
Hans Ruedi Giger, is a legend. His biomechanical imagery has tickled my imagination, and adoration for more then 20 years. Since 15 years, he has his own museum, and bar in the small historical city of Gruyere. So, I booked a hotel about 100 meters from the museum, asked a very good friend of mine, to join, and our road trip was scheduled.
Friday the 4th October, we left by car, and after an 8 hour drive, we arrived at our hotel. Weather was good, the drive itself was big fun. Imagine 2 adults, singing to music hits from the 80-90, for about 8 hours
We arrived around 17u00, so we had time, to already visit the Giger bar. The moment you enter, you are just intimidated by the design.

Sabbatical period
Hey fellow DeviantART members,
It's been a while.... about 7 months ago, I decided to stop drawing.... my own professional and personal life took so much of my time & energy, it was difficult to keep combining these 3. One month became two, two became three, and now, after this whole time, the graphite powder, & pencils are calling my name again :-)
I am planning to restart again, although it might take some time before I actually start, but I am busy with 2 new drawings. One will be a portrait, of a photo I took this year in Kroatie. Looking very forward to start on it, as it is an own reference, and the subject has just an impr
Feature
Hello people, it's been ages since I updated or wrote a new journal.
Life has been busy and good. I have been working silently and patiently on my new drawing which is coming along nicely. I have not posted that much of WIP shots as I used too. Biggest reason for that is that dA looks a bit deserted. Not many hits or comments do emerge from these WIP, so it looks like people are not that interested anymore in seeing them.
As it has been a while, I am going to do a feature, so send me in comment a thumbnail of your best work, and I might feature them in a next journal. Please as always, only graphite works, level has no meaning.... so d
New Contest: Project Soldier
Hey everybody, it has been some time.... and time for a new contest.
My last contest 'the blood is the life' was a good one, and I enjoyed it very much.
This time, it will be easier..... no drawing, no painting, just thinking....
Some may have noticed that I have been busy with a new drawing for some months... I always call it Project Soldier.
At this stage, I still do not have a good name for it, and I challenge everyone, to come up with a good name.
So what is this drawing about? I won't say.... :-) I can tell you that it's a tribute to the great wars.... from 1914-1918, and 1940-1945.
I also will tell you that this is a drawing abou
My journey into finding my Style....
Hey everybody, I have been very quiet the last months, time to change this, and time to write a journal on something which is pretty important if you want to pursue art.
People talk a lot about 'what is my style', and how to find your 'style'. I started less then 3 years ago on my drawing journey, and the past 2 years I did not think a lot about this subject. This changed the last year.... I actually really know now, what my style is, what I want to do with it, and what my next steps are the following years, in order to pursue this.
Let me start at the beginning, and take us back to November 2011.
Back then, I drew at regularly interval.
